Description:

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is a federally-funded health and nutrition program aimed at supporting families. It offers a range of valuable services to help families lead a healthy lifestyle:

<ul>
<li>Information about nutrition and healthy living</li>
<li>Support and guidance on breastfeeding</li>
<li>Assistance in accessing healthcare and other community services</li>
<li>Access to a variety of healthy foods from approved grocery stores, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, milk, eggs, bread, cereal, juice, peanut butter, soy milk, tofu, and more.</li>
</ul>

To qualify for WIC, participants must meet specific income guidelines and fulfill one of the following criteria:

<ul>
<li>Pregnant women</li>
<li>Women breastfeeding a baby under 1 year of age</li>
<li>Women who have had a baby within the past 6 months</li>
<li>Infants up to their first birthday</li>
<li>Children up to their fifth birthday</li>
</ul>

In California alone, WIC services are provided by 83 agencies across over 600 sites throughout the state. Each month, approximately 1.16 million participants benefit from these services. WIC strictly adheres to Federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, ensuring non-discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.

The California WIC App is designed to enhance the experience for WIC participants by providing convenient access to various features:

<li>Check food benefits issued in the clinic</li>
<li>Scan UPCs while shopping to identify WIC Approved items</li>
<li>Locate WIC Stores and Clinics across California</li>
</ul>

The California WIC App aims to equip participants with all the necessary information at their fingertips, making their shopping experience enjoyable and hassle-free.
